Ch ch ch, ouch ouch ouch

Being a slasher is dangerous work, and not just from victims fighting back with guns, sewing needles, and fire. Handling sharp tools, chainsaws, and other implements of destruction on a regular basis is bound to result in the occasional accident or, as illustrated above, repetitive muscle strain. Good posture, a relaxed grip, and a regular stretch regime are essential. Don’t worry though, a bit of rest, ice, compression, and Excedrin should have Jason back in fighting shape for this year’s special snowy Friday the 13th in December.

There is an idea of a Felix Catman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my feline gaze and you can shake my paw and feel claws gripping you and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

GENESIS OF A GRINSANE CARTOON

I saw American Psycho again lately, and the infernal cats have been killing things in the backyard, so that’s most likely the Genesis (a Bateman favorite), of this cartoon. Of course, if you haven’t seen the movie, this cartoon won’t make any sense. I think the film holds up pretty well after 20 years – there are even a couple of remarkably appropriate Trump references in there. There’s no real punch line in this comic – mostly I just wanted to draw this Grinsane cat running down a hallway with a chainsaw. Originally I drew tennis shoes on the cat to better match the movie and then it seemed a much better idea to give the krazy kitty natural boots from white fur.

SAWDUST STUDIES

Sometimes you need that piece of paper to get respect in this world. The truth is, Leatherface could be faculty in the Human Taxidermy Program at the University of Texas (if the program really existed – did I really need to tell you that?)

Don’t be offended by this cartoon, Longhorns. Gunnar Hansen was a UT student looking for a summer job when he took on the original Leatherface role and director Tobe Hooper took classes at UT Austin. So if one school is a candidate for this pioneering program in how to stuff humans with sawdust, this is it (or maybe the University of Florida which isn’t too far from Orlando and could supply human puppets for Disney World).

It’s always easy to overlook the hard work of our mothers who brought us into this world and dealt with the countless horrors of raising us (mucus, diapers, children’s television programming). But no mother is more neglected in this regard than the host mothers who endure the pains of pregnancy only to realize later they have given birth to aliens, Children of the Damned, and occasionally, the Anti-Christ himself.

This Mother’s Day, take a [brief] pause from celebrating your own mother and raise your jeweled chalice to the forgotten horror moms who have done so much to bring forth the Apocalypse, both alien and demonic. Host mothers, your hard work is appreciated!

HANGING OUT ON PLANET DAGOBALZ

Poor Scroda. While brother Yoda was recognized by the Jedi Order early in life as having superior Force capabilities, and immediately flown out of the swamp for additional training, Scroda was somehow ignored and left to drink cheap beer with only the frogs and snakes of his home world to keep him company.

What factor contributed to this grand rejection, he would never know. Scratching his chin in puzzlement, he has watched the universe pass him by for the last 900 years.

…Grinsane-style. And rest in peace, Peter Mayhew, the big man behind Chewbacca, of one the series’ most iconic characters. You will not be forgotten!
