Happy Halloween from Grinsane!

SOMEONE HAS TO WORK THE HOLIDAYS

So that the rest of us can enjoy them. Actually, these four sisters rather delight in their work, so don’t feel too sorry for them as they fly away with your children and turn your neighbors into frogs.

But witches aren’t evil

Not all, but some of them are, who can deny that? We’ve all known one or two. And in the Grinsane Comics Universe, evil witches outnumber good ones by about 19 to 1. Be glad you’re not a cartoon!

Dress for Success

In other words, bundle up. Nationwide this is supposed to be one of the coldest Halloweens on record (cold as a witches…) Make sure to put your gloves on before flying your broom into the stratosphere.

Dogs, Elephants, Hamsters, Budgies…

All can be familiars, those supernatural creatures that appear in animal form to help witches work their craft. Black cats are the most famous, of course, but after researching this matter on YouTube, I discovered that quite a few dogs serve the role as well, not to mention birds, deer, and even the occasional honey badger.

Spiritual Guide or Food Hungry Butt Kisser?

This is the big question. Is the reason your cat follows you around the house because it shares a deep psychic connection with you and longs to assist you in casting love spells on weary travelers? Or does the little “demon” just want to make sure you don’t stray too far from the food bowl? Hm.

A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES

Who actually asked for these things to exist? Which company paid off which politicians to put homicidal robots in the skies and on the roads? What are all those truckers going to do when their jobs are replaced by toasters? Do you really need a cheap plastic shower squeegee from Amazon to be delivered by a drone? If robots are saving us labor, why are we all still working so hard? Do you actually want HAL taking control of your broomstick? Why does anything touched by Elon Musk always seem to explode?

Personally, I don’t want any robot putting its plastic hands on my broomstick. On the other hand, the way people drive nowadays sometimes I wish there was a competent robot at the wheel instead.

…the cats go joyriding?

Such a peaceful portrait. Well, they say ignorance is bliss…

I’ve got an alternate version of this cartoon with additional cats and additional brooms and all manner of evil taking place, but my editor (my wife) suggested I go with the simple one.

Anyone with cats, especially cats who are allowed to roam outside at night, know they’ve got their own scene that takes place after most of humans go to sleep. And it’s probably best to know as little as possible about what’s happening out there.

Bloody carnage on the door step, missing chunks of ear, and the appearance of kittens looking for daddy lets you know there are some wild streets out there.

So be responsible, witches – keep your brooms fueled up so kitty can get back home safely after a night of carousing.

And ask no questions!

This witch broom is powered on pure evil, none of that unleaded or ethanol diluted malevolence. And no gasoline, either! The reason for that should be obvious (brooms are made of straw and wood, gasoline is flammable, witches have a bad history with fire… enough said).

There is rumor in the witch world that innovative German witches are currently developing a broom powered by lunar powered batteries, but no such broom has been seen in the skies yet. In the meantime, witches will continue to fill up their dutiful transportation sticks with the good stuff, I mean the bad stuff, provided at secret filling stations across the globe.

By the way, have you ever seen a witch do a flip on a broom?
