Quite the dream chef.

FOOD TO DIE FOR

We haven’t seen Freddy Krueger in the theater for a long time now, which only leads one to assume 1) the Dream Warriors finally wiped him out for good; or 2) He’s gotten a new job. I’m going with the latter. And what better place to employ his flashy knife skills than a Japanese steakhouse? Oddly, this cartoon has me totally craving this type of food now. I wonder if the chefs at Benihana dress like Freddy for Halloween?

SCREAM A HAPPY SONG

I’ll admit, I’m feeling a bit guilty about this one. I grew up with the Smurfs — watching the Smurf cartoon religiously every Saturday morning, sleeping in Smurf sheets, collecting the little Smurf toys, fa la la la la — and now I’ve drawn this cruel parody… for shame! Somewhere, Papa Smurf shakes his head with displeasure.

That said, I would totally drop some cash to see a Smurfs horror movie!

J.R. MACREADY: HEAVY DRINKING ANTARCTIC SUPERDAD

John Carpenter’s The Thing never mentions Mrs. MacReady, therefore I’ve taken a bit of artistic liberty here. There must be a reason J.R. is working in Antarctica, no? Escaping an ex wife and kids seems like a safe bet. For some reason their relationship never worked out despite a shared interest in strong bourbon, chain smoking, and extensive hair activator.

Which doesn’t mean that J.R. doesn’t care about his children. He drinks hard for a reason, and still manages to get out the occasional birthday card to Ooops 1 and Ooops 2 when the boat pulls into McMurdo. Still, giving kids a puppy for Christmas is something that should really be discussed by both parents. Who’s going to clean up after that dog, after all? I’m sure it won’t be J.R. unless he’s using a flame thrower.
