Happy New Year — and Happy Anniversary, too! Grinsane is one year old today.
WELCOME TO THE ASYLUM
For the one year anniversary of this webcomic, I wanted to create something a bit self reflexive. If you read Grisane regularly, you know that cats are a regular topic here. Not the nice purry ones like you see in some other cartoons, but the Satan spawned slave masters of the human race.
I work out of the house, but never alone. The cats are always there with me, demanding doors to be opened and closed, and food bowls filled to capacity. Sometimes the cats put ideas in my head, other times they simply jump on my head. It’s enough to drive someone completely… Grinsane.
Which is what has happened to the poor soul in this comic. He started out just like you and me, with a mere cat or two, maybe one his girlfriend brought into the relationship. At first he thought the meows were pleas for food and affection, but eventually he realized there were deeper messages contained within the sounds — religious insights, psychopathic commandments, and communications from beyond.
He began to tell others what the cats were saying and found himself in this place. The doctors told him the messages were not real. Fortunately he managed to grab a Sharpie with his teeth to visualize the communications. And with that backstory, I welcome you to Year Two of Grinsane. Expect to see more Grinsane cats this year, not because I like drawing them, but because the meows in my head demand it!
Thank you for reading – check back Friday for more horror comedy cartoons!
